About the data

How to read these results

EdSync organizes publicly reported California Department of Education data into a simpler view. The dashboard summarizes published results; it does not create new student outcomes or estimate information the state has withheld.

Data sources

Results come from public CDE aggregate files for academic performance, chronic absenteeism, suspension, graduation, enrollment, and student demographics.

Reporting years

Each selection uses the school year shown on the page. Publication schedules differ, so the newest available year may vary by measure.

Student groups

Group results describe students included in that published measure. Some categories overlap, so group counts should not be added together.

Suppressed results

CDE may withhold results for small groups or other privacy reasons. EdSync shows those values as unavailable and does not estimate them.

Comparisons and trends

Changes compare published years for the same measure and population. State comparisons use the matching statewide result when available.

What the data cannot explain

Patterns can identify questions worth exploring, but aggregate results alone cannot determine why a change or student-group difference occurred.

Privacy: This public dashboard uses aggregate results only. It does not display student-level EdSync enrollment, attendance, or participation records.
